Have you ever thought, or even admitted to someone, that you just don’t have time for yourself because of your job and responsibilities as a parent? Has someone ever looked at you and tilted their head to the side and said, “Really?” Unfortunately, many people do not understand what it is to be a mother and an entrepreneur. Here are some ways that you can get the quality time you deserve.

Wake up early

This can be difficult, especially if you are not an early riser. However, if you try for a week or so, you may find that getting up an hour earlier will help you start the day in a peaceful and calm way. We all know how difficult it is to hit the snooze button over and over again, only to find out that it has caused the kids to mindlessly rush and get up. Setting that alarm an hour earlier (without hitting the snooze button!) Will give you some time to yourself.

Rely on positive affirmations

Oh those quotes! And how influential can they be! The mind is a powerful organ and positive affirmations can help you put your mind in a positive state. Find positive statements about women, moms, and entrepreneurs that strike a chord with you. Copy and paste them to your desk, your phone, or write them down and keep them in your office. Doing whatever it takes to always have them close to you will ensure that you will always have an emotional and motivating boost on the spot.

Find that friend

Many moms who are also entrepreneurs take comfort in knowing that they have one or two very close friends who share similar goals and dreams. Getting together for coffee one day a week or for lunch together can make a significant difference and improve your emotional well-being. Taking care of yourself can also involve taking care of each other by encouraging them emotionally, forgetting about work for a while, and simply laughing together.

Stay on the road

Find a good routine and stick to it. This can be tricky with children, but it can be done. Children, especially the youngest ones, also crave routine and structure. Make a schedule for yourself and your children, and make sure you have time there for just yourself. A routine with specific times and what needs to be accomplished at those times will keep unexpected stress at bay, or at least significantly reduce it.

To meditate

Many people love meditation, whether in a spiritual way, through yoga, through the repetition of a mantra, or simply simple and relaxing reflection. Meditation is commonly and successfully done to relax and relieve stress. You can meditate for 15 minutes a day and work up to 45 minutes a day; is what works for you. One thing is for sure: meditation works for many people by calming the mind and giving a feeling of freshness and renewal.

All of these suggestions have one thing in common: you are spending time with yourself. Finding time for yourself, even if you think you don’t have it, will help relieve stress. If you are a mom who is also an entrepreneur, spend a small part of your day (even if it’s only 15 minutes!) Just to focus on yourself.
