When I won the lottery, I already knew that something big was on the way for me. I had come across the Law of Attraction while seeing an amazing woman, and she had brought it up. When she ended our relationship, I began a transitional stage in my life of introspection and learning.

I began an advanced self-education in love, romance, finance, communication, psychology, and anything else I could get my hands on. With each new topic I came across, the Law of Attraction kept coming up, often quite prominently. I listened to my intuition and followed the path that was in front of me.

I learned the art of affirming. If you are not familiar with affirmations, they are repeated phrases that carry a concept into your subconscious mind. This process, if done correctly, can help you achieve amazing things.

There are right ways and wrong ways to practice affirmations. Some examples that I have used with great success are “I am a billionaire.” and “Abundance and prosperity flow through me.” These phrases must be repeated, either aloud or silently, at least ten times, several times a day. They must be deeply believed and, most importantly, felt.

There is a level of specificity to strive for, but you don’t want to be too specific. Leaving yourself open to a pleasant surprise can allow you to realize potential you hadn’t even considered. For example, you may want to win the lottery. The deepest wish would be that you want the financial freedom to travel wherever you want. An opportunity to have a career as a well-paid travel writer may present itself. Getting paid to go to exotic places and writing an article would get your wish. So instead of saying “I’m a lottery winner”, you’d say something like “I freely travel the world”.

I like to repeat two or three affirmations for about a month and then move on to newer sentences. I find that keeping a new goal to strive for, while releasing my desires for my subconscious mind to go to work, helps me keep flowing in the direction I want to go.

It is important to avoid using the future tense. Telling yourself “I’ll be rich” keeps things moving into the future, and it just won’t happen. If you say “I am rich”, your mind will go to work to reconcile that reality.

Getting into the right frame of mind is also important. I found an affirmation a while back that I still use when I feel stressed or overwhelmed. “I am healthy, wealthy and loved.” When I say this to myself and think of all the Love in my life, I can feel my brows relax and the tension slip away. I feel intense gratitude for my good health and the unconditional love of my children. That’s when the good things really start to happen.
