If you notice that you have bad breath and have tonsil stones, you have probably already realized that the two go hand in hand. In fact, tonsil stones can be the cause of some of the worst cases of bad breath and if you’ve ever opened a tonsil stone and been faced with the smelly insides, you know exactly what I mean!

Although there are a few ways to remove tonsil stones, there are two main problems: –

First, find a method that removes EVERYBODY tonsil stones, and not just the obvious ones.

Second, making sure they don’t come back, thus undoing all their good work.

The reasons for these two comments are obvious. If you fail to remove each of them, even the smallest fragments can be surprisingly pungent and therefore the small “seeds” that remain will have a foul odor and will naturally grow into larger stones. Also, you need to take steps to ensure that the stones cannot return, otherwise you will be left with an endless cycle.

One way to eradicate stones is to have surgery. This could involve removal of the individual stones using an oral curette or a complete tonsillectomy. You can also try removing tonsil stones yourself. If they haven’t become deeply ingrained, sometimes a small dropper can suck them up. If your gag reflex isn’t too strong, pushing a finger against the bottom of your tonsils and gently pushing them up can help pull them out. Another way to get rid of tonsil stones is to cough them up. Although it is complicated, some people can close and then flex their throat, followed by coughing, and this can help to dislodge them.
