Let’s face it, if you are in network marketing then you have to learn how to be a better public speaker to make a lot of money. The man or woman in front of the room makes the most money and always will.
While you don’t have to be the best public speaker in the world, you do need to be able to deliver your message with confidence. If you’re shaking, people often wonder what you have to hide and if they can trust you. Here are the five easy ways to become a better public speaker.
#1 – Study your material
I can’t tell you how many people love to just improvise and hope that everything works out. Sometimes this is overconfidence and sometimes it is laziness. Whatever the reason, it’s not a good idea to improvise. You need to make sure that you study the material and know it very well so that you feel confident when you hand in your material.
#2 – Know your audience
Who are you talking to? Do you enjoy jokes? Are they more of a serious crowd? When you know who you’re talking to, you can tailor the message to make it feel like it’s only for the person you’re talking to. When people feel like you’re speaking to them personally, they love to listen!
#3 – Rehearse
It’s great if you follow #1 and study your material but also want to rehearse. Find a friend, family member, pet, or even some stuffed animals and rehearse your heart out.
#4 – Don’t apologize
I’m sorry, but there’s nothing worse than someone starting their talk with I’m sorry, but. People don’t want to hear your apologies. People want to hear you talk.
#5 – Focus on the Message
You want to make sure you get the message home. When people leave, they need to know what you were conveying to them. There is nothing worse than taking your time and leaving a conversation confused about the message.
