Most of us can remember really wanting to get up on Saturdays. Knowing there was no school, we’d jump out of bed in our pajamas, help ourselves to a bowl of sugary cereal, and camp out in the living room for the next three hours. All of this served one purpose: watching Saturday morning cartoons. Back then, Saturday morning cartoons were a way of life, but not only cartoons were coveted, but their theme songs as well. Even now, years later, many of us still have the theme songs from our beloved cartoons stuck in the cracks of our memory. The following is our list of the best Saturday Morning Cartoon theme songs, back when the Saturday Morning Cartoons were really cool.

Gummy bears: Gummy bears, bouncing here and there and everywhere (come on, you know the words). gummy bears it was a show put on by a company that knew a thing or two about animation: Walt Disney. Centered on a group of bears with human characteristics who fight against bad guys in medieval times (yes, yes, it’s a true story), gummy bears it is credited with being one of the first true Saturday morning cartoons. Ahead of its time, animation behind gummy bears set a previous for others to follow. The theme song was also, to put it bluntly, pretty awesome. The lyrics and the melody made you feel happy to be up so early and ready, if need be, to fight any ogre that got in your way.

The Smurfs: Ahem, my my my…..La la la la la laaaaa, la la la la laaaaa. If ever there was a theme song and a completely unforgettable show, it was The Smurfs. Produced by Hanna-Barbera, The Smurfs will always have a place in pop culture. A series about little blue creatures that live in mushroom-shaped houses and constantly evade the clutches of the evil sorcerer Gargamel. The Smurfs they were a rock of Saturday morning cartoons for nearly a decade. With a musical theme that is, in any case, easy to memorize, the song of The Smurfs it is one that will surely stay in our heads for a lifetime.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Watch out, because here we go. The caricature Alvin and the Chipmunks it featured three orphaned chipmunks and their adoptive father David Sevilla. The trio consisted of the troublemaker Alvin, the clever Simon, and the lovable and perpetually hungry Theodore. Since the chipmunks released several recordings, the theme song for the TV show had to be great…and it was. A major plotline of the series featured David Seville as manager, pushing the chipmunks to musical success through rehearsals (Please note: doing this in real life with real chipmunks will only incite rage).

Scooby Doo: Scooby-dooby-doo, where are you? We have work to do now. Ah, good old Scooby and the gang. The caricature Scooby Doo it featured a dog with a Donald Duck-style speech impediment who solved supernatural crimes alongside Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, and Fred. Another Hanna-Barbera production, Scooby Doo it remains one of the most popular cartoons and best-known characters in animation history. The theme song continues to be popular too – just hearing it is enough to give you cravings for a Scooby snack.

Saved by the Bell: When I wake up in the morning and the alarm gives a warning. It’s okay, Saved by the Bell It’s not technically a cartoon, but it was shown in the Saturday morning cartoon line, which is why it’s on the list. If you have a problem with that, talk to Slater. A series that featured six friends from Bayside High School, Saved by the Bell it was like a breakfast club for TV But it wasn’t all fun and games: Every once in a while there would be a “very special episode” (remember when Jesse was addicted to caffeine pills? I pray she’s okay). As for the theme song, it’s hard to hear an alarm or miss a bus and not think about it. Saved by the Bell. Unfortunately, in real life there is no bell to save us when we are late; usually we just have to make up a lie.
