Please read the following:

Food crisis in Niger, AIDS in Uganda, Somali journalists attacked and jailed, unstable government in Madagascar threatens Tress.

Here are the New York Times top news headlines for Africa.

Pretty depressing huh?

Did you notice that none of them are about Namibia? So why is Namibia never in the news?

Here are just some of the more obvious reasons:

– In many ways, colonialism was a great benefit to modern Namibia. Colonialism built many of the SCHOOLS in which children are taught today.

– Colonialism built many of the ROADS, paved and gravel, all of which are in excellent condition and regularly maintained to the point that the main Fishing Industry port at Walvis Bay connects to the Transcaprivan Highway which connects to Central Africa and its many countries (Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi to name but a few).

– The WATER is potable, so it can be drunk in more than 90% of the country, a great benefit to maintain a healthy population.

– ELECTRICITY prevails and is powered by Namibia’s own power stations.

– Crime is LOW.

– The location between two of the oldest deserts in the world makes the arid environment a perfect ingredient to MINIMIZE diseases such as cholera, typhoid, malaria and yellow fever – Once again, it helps to maintain a healthy population.

– Namibia is the first country in the world to incorporate ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION into the constitution, thus eliminating future problems on that issue and making it a home place for more animals than people!

– Since its Independence in 1990, the country has remained stable, GROWN in productivity and peacefully elects heads of state every five years.

– The government HAS A GOAL duly named “Vision 2030” in which it intends for Namibia’s industrial sector to compete with the 1st world, its population to increase to 3 million, and its population educated and skilled in the workforce.

So I ask again, why is Namibia never in the news?

A wise old man once said “plan for the future by first building a solid foundation.”

To build that solid foundation.
