REWARD
When you start training your dog in any circumstance, you should make a basic plan of what you are going to do and determine which commands you will use for your procedures.

For example:

If you are teaching your dog to sit, obviously your command will be Sit.
But some people can tell their dog to sit. If this works for you and you don’t do much training… fine. But it’s best to stick to one word commands.

If you were to use the sit command, what would you use to make your dog drop?
It would only be limited to command drop; he would confuse his dog if he used the ‘Down’ command. I hope you see my point; Another example would be if you were to use the ‘Drop’ command to make the dog lie down, what command would you use to make the dog drop the ball…?

You would be restricted to using the ‘Give’ or ‘Out’ command.

Another problem would be if you tell your dog to lie down one day and go to bed the next, it is easier to understand your commands.

Here are some examples.

“Sit” to sit.
“Be standing” to stand.

“Release” to lie down.

“Heel” to heel.

“Stay” to stay.

“Out” to release a ball or stick.

“Come” for a retreat.

“No” for a correction command.
“Good boy” for the praise command (obviously not for female canines).

“Go” to go forward without a lead.

“Scent” for the beginning of a track.

“You’re Free” means end of exercise.

“Find it” when the dog has to smell the wind and find someone.

“Walk” means to go for a walk.

“Swim” to go swimming.

“Shake” to dry after swimming and dogs are wet.
