One of the attractive islands that Bohol is really proud of is Cabilao Island. The island is located in the western part of the main island, in the middle of the vast Cebu Strait. One of the smallest Philippine islands, it is approximately 8 square kilometers, a relaxed lifestyle and a peaceful community.

You may be wondering how tourism is able to infiltrate this small island. Well, although small, it has three well-known dive spots: El Faro, Punto Cambaquiz and Punto Sur, which put this Cabilao Island on the list of top tourist destinations in Bohol. Diving and snorkeling on this island are very rewarding.

Furthermore, the small island offers the same white sand beaches as any other in Bohol. It has also been declared a Marine Park/Reserve by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). For the conservation of the same, some fees and penalties are applied.

Bohol’s only natural lake, Lake Lanao, is also located on the island, near Pantudlan, and has become a bird sanctuary. With a telescope close at hand, you can capture very clear images of different species of birds. Bird hunting is strictly prohibited on the island. Therefore, more species of these flying creatures can be seen here than anywhere else in Bohol.

Away from the pressures of the city, the tranquility of the place is an attraction in itself. Lush green areas complement every walk, seeing children playing or adults herding some goats or a cow. Nothing disturbs your peace of mind and it’s a good thing. Unlike Panglao, the island has no mass tourism or major commercialization, making it clean and truly peaceful.

Challenge your courage, try scuba diving, thrill your eyes with the abundant marine life around the island while snorkeling and relax with the natural beauty of nature at its best. Taste the difference here at Cabilao Island.
