Leviathan is a unique Kraken Shell body armor with very high defense, a large strength bonus, and very good physical resistance.

Only for ladder characters.

The stats:

Defense: 1514-1722

Required level: 65

Force Required: 174

+170-200% Enhanced Defense

+100-150 Defense

+40-50 to strength

Damage reduced by 15-25%

Indestructible

+170-200% Enhanced Defense

+100-150 Defense

Compared to other unique armor in the game, Leviathan has one of the highest defenses and is a good choice for melee characters. A Paladin who uses the Aura of Defiance to improve their Defense (and that of this group) benefits from high Defense armor due to the % Defiance bonus.

+40-50 to strength

Leviathan offers a huge Force boost, and its boost is perhaps the biggest in the game. With a +40-50 bonus to Strength, this means your character could finally put on some items he has stashed away due to him not meeting the Strength requirements. And what this also means is that he can spend the 40-50 points he would have spent to meet those requirements on Vitality and thus gain more health. Having more health in Diablo 2 is always, always a good thing.

Damage reduced by 15-25%

Leviathan is one of the few items in the game that provides % resistance to physical damage. The others are Vampire Gaze, Axis Stop, Ear Cord, Verdungo’s Cord, Harlequin Crest, and Storm Shield.

Many players try to put on at least one item that has % physical damage resistance, for the simple reason that it reduces the damage taken from successful attacks and thus leads to one of the most important goals for all players. from Diablo 2 (especially those who play in Hardcore mode): don’t die.

Indestructible

With the Indestructible on it, you’ll never have to pay a single gold to repair the Leviathan, as it will never suffer any decrease in Durability! However, since it’s so easy to make a lot of money in Hell mode, this should never be the main selling point of any item – it’s nice to have, but not essential.

Summary:

Leviathan doesn’t really have much going for it except high Defense, huge boost to Strength, and Physical Damage Resistance %. The Physical Damage Resistance % on Leviathan is decent, but it pales in comparison to the other items with Physical Damage Resistance % (Vampire Gaze, Axis Stop, etc.) because it has so few mods and what’s more importantly, it lacks any increase in resistance.
