If you’ve just started playing Star Wars The Old Republic, it can be quite confusing from the start. One of the hardest things to get a handle on in the game is the SWTOR team’s abilities to make credits. So I thought a good place to start would be to explain crew skills which together make up the majority of how we’re going to get credits in the game.

As with other MMORGs like World of Warcraft, you get crafting and gathering skills that make up many of the crew skills. However, there are also quests that are unique to SWTOR and involve sending your partner on quests that cost credits and in return you will get items that you can use to further enhance your gathering and crafting skills.

We can divide all the skills you use in SWTOR to make credits into 4 sections:

SWTOR Gathering Skills

SWTOR Crafting Skills

SWTOR Missions

SWTOR Gathering Skills

Let’s go through each section so you know how they work in the game.

SWTOR encounter

Gathering skills work very similarly to mining in World of Warcraft, so if you’ve played WOW before, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t played WOW before, basically gathering in SWTOR will involve collecting resources from planets which you will use in conjunction with your crafting skills.

Essentially there are 3 ways to get resources from gathering and that is from “nodes” – basically you will see them around the map and if you right click on them as long as you have a high enough skill level on your gathering skill you will be able to get some materials.

You will also be able to use some gathering abilities when you knock down an enemy. For example, Bioanalysis allows you to scan any animal you kill to collect resources, and Scavenging allows you to collect parts from the droids you kill in the game.

You will also be able to collect materials using the quest system that costs credits, but you will send your partner on quests that will bring you certain materials.

SWTOR Compilation of skills in SWTOR:

You will find 4 gathering skills that you can get in the game:

Archeology

Bio-analysis

Swept

slice

Of course, we’ll delve deeper into each of the gathering skills in future articles, but if you’re completely lost and don’t want to craft, grab Slicing and start sending your partner on Slicing quests and you’ll usually get more. credits than the mission cost.

SWTOR Crafting Skills in SWTOR

Next we have the crafting skills in SWTOR. Some people starting the game are a bit put off by crafting as it sounds much more difficult than it is.

Essentially, the point of crafting is to create items that you can use to make your character more powerful.

The hardest thing about crafting in SWTOR is that it takes a while to get the best recipes to make the best items and you can buy them from other players, crew skill vendors or you can reverse engineer the recipes, but this can cost a lot. credits

With most Crafting skills, you’ll be able to get a lot of credits once you reach a decent skill level, but of course that’s easier said than done!

There are six crafting skills in SWTOR:

cyber technology

synthetic fabric

Biochemistry

Artifice

armtech

mechanical armor

Next we have the crew skill missions that are exclusive to SWTOR.

SWTOR Crew Skill Missions:

There are 4 quest based crew skills in the game:

Treasure hunting

underworld trade

Research

Diplomacy

With quest skills, all you have to do is send your partner on quests and this will cost you credits, but you will come back with rewards like companion gifts and gems that you can use with crafting skills to make items.

I hope this has given you a good overview of the crew skills in SWTOR which together make up all of the professions you will use to earn credits in the game.
