We really can’t understand how the guys at Sony managed to pack so much power into such a small case. The Sony VAIO VPCZ122GX measures just 12.4 by 1.3 by 8.3 inches and weighs less than 3.1 pounds. It does, however, feature an Intel Core i5 520M central processing unit, running on a 2.4 GHz Front Side Bus (FSB), which can go as high as 2.93 GHz through the use of its Turbo Boost technology. . It uses a 3 MB L3 cache. This processor managed to rank in the top 10 in all of our tests. This notebook comes with 4 GB (2 x 2 GB memory cards) DDR 3 1066 MHz FSB of Random Access Memory (RAM), enough for even the most resource-demanding applications. Advanced users will be pleased to learn that they can double this amount to reach the maximum capacity of 8GB.
Sony VAIO VPCZ122GX has an Nvidia GeForce GT 330 M video card that uses the innovative Intel HD graphics engine, with 1 GB of dedicated VRAM, capable of generating bright and clear images with a maximum resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. The 13.1-inch LED-backlit display offers top-quality graphics. We were delighted to find a 128GB (two 64GB drives) Serial ATA (SATA) Solid State Drive (SSD) inside this VAIO. We would have preferred a 256GB solid state drive, but this is good enough.
