Buying a home or property in today’s market is a little different than it was just a year ago. Many things have changed that could affect your purchase decision.

First let me say that selecting the right real estate agent in the Hayesville NC or Hiawassee GA area to help you with your search and purchase is critical. If you select an agent who is not fully familiar with the real estate market you are considering, you could be missing out on some very attractive opportunities. Being unfamiliar with the area will not only waste a lot of time searching for the best home or property, but you may also be shopping in the wrong part of town. Think about the city you live in now. Are there parts of that city that you would not like to live in for any reason? It is very important to know that you can trust the agent you are working with to guide you to the right property.

So how do I find this agent? The first thing that will give you an indication of the agent’s commitment to the profession is their website. Do they have a web page? and it is just a simple temporary site or a user friendly custom site with ease of navigation.

The second thing to consider is the education of the agents. I am not referring to your formal high school or college education, but to your real estate education. Does your agent have other designations, such as GRI? Graduated from the Real Estate Institute, ABR Accredited Buyers Representative, etc. These designations not only show the agents’ commitment to furthering their knowledge of the real estate business, but also their commitment to the business in general. There are many licensed real estate agents who work only part-time and have little or no performance history or continuing education. If you were looking for a doctor, would you hire anyone you came across or take the time to research their qualifications? Well, I recommend that you do the same when you hire a real estate agent.

Learn who will represent you in one of the biggest investments you’ve ever made before you get involved. Ask for references from previous clients. Interview more than one agent and make sure you feel comfortable with the person in front of you before signing any agreement to work with them.

Finding a good REALTOR is job number one!
