The island of Oahu has so many cities and towns. However, only three cities really stand out for their uniqueness and attractions, as well as their development. The cities of Honolulu, Waikiki, and Haleiwa on the North Shore are Oahu’s major cities. Oahu is one of the main islands of Hawaii and a major tourist attraction for millions of people around the world.
Honolulu
Honolulu is located on the south coast of the island of Oahu in the Central Pacific Ocean. It is also the capital of Hawaii, one of the main states of the United States of America. Honolulu is not only the largest city in Hawaii, but is also considered the “largest” city in the world. Of course, that’s up for debate, but considering the Hawaii state constitution, which clearly says that any island not named under a particular county belongs to Honolulu. Therefore, the entire island of Oahu, including all the other small unoccupied islands of northwestern Hawaii, can be counted as part of Honlolulu. Honlolulu is 4,195 km west of Los Angeles and the population in 2000 was 371,657.
Seventy-three percent of the population of the state of Hawaii lives on Oahu, where Honolulu is located. The word Honolulu was coined from two words; “hono” meaning “protected otherwise protected” and “lulu” meaning “bay”. Therefore “Honolulu” simply means “protected bay”. pleasant throughout the year.
Honolulu also has several districts, including the popular city of Waikiki, although Waikiki itself is considered a city. Honolulu has since become the business center of Hawaii due to the many hotels and buildings, as well as shopping malls.
Haleiwa
Haleiwa has humble beginnings because it was established by missionaries in 1832. Rev. and Mrs. John Emerson were behind the construction of this great city. Later, the city began to grow with the construction of the Oahu Railroad and the Haleiwa Hotel in 1899. This ancient city has become a dream place to buy crafts, art and surf equipment. Haleiwa has many unique and interesting places to visit; you can visit the Haleiwa Museum and see stunning paintings by the famous master marine artist Walfrido on display at the North Short Art Gallery.

Waikiki
This wonderful city is the tourist destination of all of Hawaii. Almost all hotels found on Oahu are located in Waikiki. Waikiki has several beaches but also drives from several restaurants and shopping malls. This man-made cape encompasses 450 acres of dreamy vacation paradise. This swampy area has since been converted into prime island real estate after the completion of the Ali Wai Canal.
In conclusion, Oahu has several wonderful cities other than Honolulu that are worth a visit. The beautiful city of Kaneohe is also very popular with visitors and locals.
