Creating habits takes time and discipline. You have to commit to doing certain things regularly to form a habit.

You can also create organizing clothes. These are the small actions you can do on a daily basis to keep your home neat and tidy, like putting everything back in its place after using it or putting clothes in the closet when you don’t wear them.

However, it takes some time until you can call them a habit. As long as you have formed a habit, there are certain characteristics that tell you that you are on the right track.

In this document, I describe some characteristics that I have identified that tell me that I have organizational habits.

You feel weird for not doing it.

One of the most common signs that I’ve formed a habit is when I’m doing something different than I normally would.

For example, after learning how to clean the kitchen table after dinner and put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, you feel weird about not doing it.

It becomes second nature.

Another way to identify a habit of tidying up and organizing is to realize that it becomes second nature to you and you do it without giving it a second thought.

For example, after I finish working on my computer, I take care of my desk in no time, so I don’t have messy papers floating on my desk.

I do it without thinking and this is because I have been doing it for some time.

Others notice

Sometimes other people notice that you keep doing certain things over and over again. This can also be applied to ordering and organizing.

For example, my wife has told me many times that I am an organized person and that I keep things in order (and sometimes even get rid of clutter too quickly).

Again, this is perhaps something I don’t think too much about, and sometimes, it’s nice to realize, other people notice your efforts at order and organization, too. And like I said before, they wouldn’t do that, if you weren’t doing those things consistently enough.
