The Nissan Patrol has long been a very popular vehicle to drive. They can be purchased in diesel and gasoline, as well as utes and full body vehicles. In my opinion, the older Patrols are by far the best (the GQ models) as they have incredibly powerful motors and drivelines. You can drive these vehicles as hard as you want for days on end and struggle to break anything. Of course as soon as you start fitting lift kits, bigger tires and diff locks the story differs a bit but they are probably the strongest vehicle you can get on the market.
The newer patrol cars are also good cars, although they have had some serious problems with the 3 liter diesel engine. With a few modifications, these cars are one of the most capable four-wheel drive vehicles on the market. If you fit the correct Nissan mods and suspension lifters they will go anywhere. It all comes down to planning your modifications well and buying the items at the right price.
If you are going to buy a GU ute, try to make sure it has coil springs in the back. These leave standard crossbows for dead! Overall, these are great cars, and the Toyota Land Cruiser is the only other vehicle that’s even comparable. Both have their own individual advantages and disadvantages, and both are good cars. However, if you do get a Nissan Patrol, check for regular services and for cracks under the vehicle.
