Now that the National Football League (NFL) Super Bowl is just around the corner, it’s time to get your tickets as soon as possible. Planning an international sports vacation with friends or family has become easier with various websites offering all kinds of necessary facilities to make your trip safe, easy and comfortable.

Historical facts about the NFL Super Bowl
First held on January 15, 1967, in Los Angeles, California, the event was called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game. This is because the championship was the result of an agreement between the American Football League (AFL) and the NFL that the leagues would compete in one football game until their merger was achieved. The leagues merged in the 1970s to become one ‘conference’.

The term ‘Super Bowl’ was coined by Lamar Hunt, the former owner of the Kansas City Chiefs and founder of the AFL; after watching his children play with a Super Ball. This sensational American sporting event has adopted a unique identification style. Instead of identifying the games by the year they are held, numbers are used. The game series begins a year before the final games take place. For example, the 2009 regular season champions will be decided in the 2010 Finals.

The Dallas Cowboys have played in the most games to date (8). With 6 wins under their belt, the Pittsburgh Steelers have had more wins here, compared to other conferences. The NFL has 32 teams of which 17 have won at least one Championship Game. Only the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions had won the NFL championship cups before it was known in its current form. The New Orleans Saints, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Houston Texans joined the league soon after.

Facts about the 2010 NFL Super Bowl
The 44th annual NFL Super Bowl will take place at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on February 7, 2010. 2010 will mark the tenth time this event has been hosted by South Florida. The Championship has been held at Dolphin Stadium five times already. Other times the game was played in the Orange Bowl.
