First held on January 15, 1967, in Los Angeles, California, the event was called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game. The term ‘Super Bowl’ was coined by Lamar Hunt, the former owner of the Kansas City Chiefs and founder of the AFL; after watching his children play with a Super Ball. The 44th annual NFL Super Bowl will take place at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on February 7, 2010. 2010 will mark the tenth time this event has been hosted by South Florida. The Championship has been held at Dolphin Stadium five times already. Other times the game was played in the Orange Bowl.
