Today, the #1 cosmetic procedure is liposuction. Hundreds and hundreds of thousands have tried it and even more have thought about it. Those may really need it, but have only thought about it, probably not because it sounds so elusive and painful. Well, to some extent that is true until recently. A new type of liposuction has emerged and it is much more effective than the old one.

VASER LipoSelection is the newest type of method to remove fat from the body. Fat cells are basically melted down and then removed by a combination of two things. Ultrasonic energy and the movement and suction of a suction tube. What it does is basically reshape specific areas of the body. Examples of some of the common areas are the back, hips, thighs, knees, neck, chin, abdomen, and arms.

This method, compared to some of the other laser fat removal techniques available, is more for those looking to lose weight significantly. Not only of the face or neck, but also of these areas. Around 2001 Sound Surgical Technologies released this laser fat removal system. VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance.

It works with sound waves to emulsify fat with minimal tissue trauma. The trauma to the surrounding tissue is what has prevented so many people from using any type of liposuction in the past. That is why this procedure was designed to limit the amount of trauma to the surrounding tissue. It’s not as harmful as traditional procedures, as it uses wand-like tubes called cannulas that are smaller than the tools used in earlier procedures. Basically, these cannulas allow easy extraction of the liquefied fat that comes out directly from the skin without disturbing the nerves, blood vessels and tissues in general.

While the surgeon is “in” they can remove tissue below the surface of the skin, which in turn will improve the contours of the muscles in that area. This will offer the look that is usually seen in men who exercise and eat very healthy.

Your next question might be how does this work? Well, a set of high-frequency vibration ultrasonic probes that initiate nearby fat cells to rupture and almost liquefy. The liquid is then sucked out. Almost all patients notice an immediate difference, while full results are achieved within 3-6 months.

Ideal candidates for this would be people with excess body fat in certain areas but who are otherwise at a stable weight. It may sound strange to say “stable weight,” but this particular procedure is for people who exercise 3-4 times a week and are close to their body weight but only have weight in odd places.
