Reading is not an activity that many children enjoy. They would rather participate in sports or find entertainment in the world of technology than sit down and read. While many will argue that a part of reading is done while chatting online or playing various games, it doesn’t help them improve their reading skills.

Why is it important to read? Reading helps the mind to develop. Stimulates the eye muscles and awakens the imagination. Improve your vocabulary and the power of words, and broaden your horizons. Increases IQ. Reading also stimulates emotional development and cultivates sensitivity and empathy. It builds trust and improves conversation. In addition, it teaches moral values, entertains and relaxes.

Yes! Reading is essential. Teachers and parents need to realize how important their role is in fostering a love of reading. The habit of reading and the love of books must be established in childhood. If teachers and parents want children to be successful in school and in life, they must read aloud to them every day. They should also encourage children to read aloud. If they are hesitant at first, the adult should read the articles to them. A child is never too young to listen. Even babies respond to the way the voice is used while reading. Parents who read to their children from a very young age will soon discover that the time they spend together creates a special bond.

For some children and adolescents, reading is work because it is done mostly for school. Another reason they may hate the idea is that they have reading difficulties. They get defensive and think the activity is stupid.

It is never too late to start reading. Children and adolescents can be encouraged to start reading stories and articles from magazines or newspapers that interest them. Convincing them to read books can be more difficult, but help them choose a good book. Give them an idea about the plot of the story. Encourage them to read the story.

Patience and a lot of encouragement are the keys to success for a teacher or parent, but if all else fails, encourage them to work for a reward. Few things motivate and inspire young people more than money and gifts. This can be done by starting a reading group. While adults belong to reading groups, there are very few opportunities for children. Book clubs or reading groups should encourage children to read and show interest in books. These groups or clubs will allow them to listen to literature that is read aloud. Children will have the opportunity to also give their opinion about the work and the author.

Teachers and parents can also help children to participate in World Book Day, also known as International Book Day, which is celebrated annually on April 23. It is organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading. Make April the month of reading. International Children’s Book Day is also an annual event held in April. This event was founded in 1967 and observed around April 2, which is the birth date of Hans Christian Andersen. On this day, activities include reading, writing contests, and the announcement of book prizes. Why not think of a way to give prizes to the kids in the club or book group you’ve started?

The important thing to remember in life is that you’re not just developing a love of reading. You are developing a child. John Ruskin said: “The greatest reward for a man’s canvas is not what he gets for it, but what he becomes with it.”
