The Star Wars series has an incredible following, of which I am one. The characters, spaceships, and technology are sometimes mind blowing. And for most of us we want a piece of that. We want to know what it would feel like to be a Jedi. One important thing every Jedi owns is a lightsaber. If you’ve ever dreamed of building your own lightsaber, the good news is that it’s entirely possible.
There are several really good websites on the internet that include designs, images, and schematics of lightsabers that people have built on their own. In fact, they are so popular that sometimes they don’t work due to the high amount of traffic. I will give you a list of these sites at the end of this article.
When you find a design you like, you’ll find it includes a parts list that you can pick up at your local Home Depot or Lowes. The only problem you may run into is that those parts are no longer in stock or have to be ordered. So sometimes you may have to improvise on your design. Sometimes it will end up looking better and original and unique.
A word of warning is that running around a store like Home Depot or Lowes looking for nails, pipes, and other strange concoctions can raise suspicions. As happened to me once, the police ended up coming to my house. So be careful with that and if anyone asks tell them you are building a lightsaber.
