So you’ve decided you want to build big, bulky muscles? All you have to do is join a gym, lift weights and voila, in a few months you will have so much muscle mass that you will be ready to participate in a bodybuilding contest. It’s that easy.

OK, maybe it’s not that simple to build big, bulging muscles? To gain muscle mass, you have to do more than just hit the gym regularly. Here are some tips to gain muscle mass:

1. Eat, eat, eat. Building muscle requires you to eat. You must consume more calories than you are burning.

2. Eat lots of protein. If you want to gain muscle mass quickly, eat about 1 gram of protein per pound of your body weight per day. There is no protein so there are no big muscles.

3.Supplement. If you don’t get enough protein from your diet, try protein shakes as a supplement. Creatine supplement is great for increasing muscle strength so you can lift heavier weights.

4. Weight training. Build muscle by constantly adding more weights to your weight training routine. But it is important that you are using the proper lifting techniques and form. Don’t lift heavy weights for the sake of lifting heavy weights.

5. Lift free weights. Free weights like dumbbells and barbells add more muscle fibers to work.

6. Compound exercises. Like bench presses, squats, barbell rows, pull-ups, and deadlifts. If you focus on working on your tiny muscles, you will have tiny muscle growth.

7. Get plenty of rest. Rest between training days and do not train the same muscles more than 2 times per week. Your muscles need time to recover so they can grow.

8. Get enough sleep. Sleep about 8 hours a day. More if you can. Muscles grow when you are asleep.
