If you’re looking for a bigger challenge and want to build some serious strength doing your push-ups, all you need is a sturdy backpack and some extra weight inside.

A weighted pack will test the toughest and strongest men. This is not an exercise for a beginner. For years and still today men all over the world use the bench press as an indicator of strength and this is crazy.

The pushup uses more muscles than any bench press exercise done in any gym.

A weighted pack will build total body toughness that isn’t duplicated in the gym. The pushup is and always will be a total body strength and conditioner despite what most experts will tell you.

I feel like the weighted pack is better than the weighted vest because of the way they both fit your body. The weight vest will drag and bounce on the ground, but the pack sits on your back, allowing you a deeper flex.

Backpacks are cheaper than a weight vest. You can buy a backpack for five bucks or use it at army and navy stores or garage sales and for a couple of bucks get a great training tool.

The great thing about the backpack pushup is that there are so many great workouts that you can do. The key to constant growth is to keep your body on edge, you never want your body to get used to your workouts. When the body gets used to the workouts it will stop responding and boredom will set in and your results will slow down or stop.

So if you want to put some thick muscle on your upper body, grab a backpack, add some weight, and try one of these exercises.

The mountain push-up workout will work more than just your upper body. Because the workout requires you to drop to the ground to do pushups and get back up.

So set a time limit or a distance and number of push-ups you want to do and get ready to achieve them. One exercise you can try, walk a mile and try to do 250 push-ups.

Another exercise that will challenge you physically and mentally is to simply start with your chest on the floor and do a push-up, then stand up and then return to the floor chest to floor. Try this for a few minutes and the added weight will make you think twice.
