There has been a lot of press coverage lately about the virtual hypnotic gastric band, but does it work? The large number of websites that exist will make you believe that it works and is effective.
These websites will only tell you what they want you to know and will not give you the real truth. Yes, there have been stories in the press, but aren’t these press releases sent to these publications to increase the credibility of this procedure?
There is not going to be any publication that is going to publish an article that says that hypnotic gastric banding does not work because who would read it? It would be as if they published an article saying that children do not like to eat vegetables, no one would read it. However, if they published an article saying that a new technique has been invented that would make children love vegetables, then it would be a different story.
In fact, the only publications that can speak authoritatively about whether or not a procedure works are peer-reviewed academic journals. Since this technique has been on the market, there have been no scientifically based articles demonstrating the efficacy of the virtual hypnotic gastric band.
This weight loss technique is no different from weight loss surgical procedures that want you to believe they have the answer to your weight problem. They want you to believe that your procedure will automatically turn off the emotional and physiological aspects that are currently creating your weight problem. No procedure can do this, especially if it doesn’t address the real reasons you have a weight problem.
Performing one of these procedures is a lot like cutting off the head of a weed. At first you think it is gone and you begin to progress, but underground those roots begin to yearn for the light. Then slowly they begin to break through the surface of the ground, at which point their old behavior patterns begin to take over again. Maybe later you will tell yourself that you deserve that chocolate bar because you have been so good. Eventually, those weeds begin to bloom and take over more of your garden, at which point you stop trying to lose weight altogether.
The hypnotic band can help some people lose weight temporarily, but over time people will begin to stretch the limits of this procedure, as some do with the actual surgical version. The only thing about the emotional and physiological aspects of overeating is that, if left unaddressed, they will reappear. This can be during one of those times when a person is under emotional stress. The person can then use the food consciously or even unconsciously as comfort.
After this event, the person again believes that they have a tight gastric band, but that a slight slip has now weakened that belief. The next time the person is under emotional stress, it will be even easier to use food for comfort because they have done so in the past.
Eventually, the person no longer believes that they have a tight gastric band and the emotional and physiological aspects of overeating, which were never really addressed in the first place, return again. The person can then choose to fork out another £ 1200 which some places charge to do it again.
To be truly successful with your weight, not just in the short term but in the long term, you need to address the emotional and physiological issues that contribute to your being overweight. By solving these things then there is no need to go through any kind of real or imagined procedure because the roots of the problem are no longer there.
