What’s happening on KTN and Citizen?

It’s been a few months since KTN and Citizen TV decided to remove the Kenyan video DJ live mixing sets they had. First KTN shared shapes with H2O and then they made Str8Up longer. So H2O decided to rebase to NTV, for a 30 minute concert after “The Beat”. Suddenly, H2O was once again dropped from NTV, and “The Beat” was also shortened to make room in favor of some Phillipino soap operas! What a shame! TV stations actually preferred to show Filipino shows instead of sweet tracks from Kenya? This is not fair actually. It’s not fair at all.

Then at Citizen we had “Xtreem Live” a great mix of music videos from Kenya brought to you by Creme de la Creme. What does Citizen Television say? They replaced “Xtreem Live” with “Tafrija!” My friend Ill Jay the DJ told me it was nothing to worry about but nothing to do! It had been a year since Tafrija had occupied that 6 o’clock slot! I’m not showing any disrespect towards “Tafrija” or anything like that, but the difference in audience is too big! If the agenda is to promote local talent, then why not share a 50-50 hour schedule, with “Tafrija” in the middle and “Xtreem Live” in the other half hour?

Three cheers to the Citizen team for what they’re doing right now, bringing us local Kenyan programming to suit our needs. All credit to them. From Nairobi with love.
