Apple is very popular in the mobile device market due to its innovative designs of electronic devices and computers. Apple’s iPhone, iPod, and other mobile devices are famous around the world for their quality. Apple launched its first tablet called iPad in 2010. iPad gained a lot of attention and popularity due to its design and features. However, there are many iPad alternatives that are giving it stiff competition.

At the moment, Samsung Galaxy Tab represents one of the best iPad alternatives. Samsung Galaxy Tab comes with better portability and power features than iPad. It was the second best-selling tablet, right after Apple’s iPad, in 2010. A second generation Galaxy Tab will be packed with many more features and is likely to compete strongly with the second generation iPad as well.

Samsung, with its new tablet is becoming one of Apple’s biggest rivals. The new Samsung PC 7 Series runs on the Windows 7 operating system and has a built-in slider keyboard as an input device. Other features include a 10-inch touchscreen, dual front and rear cameras, USB ports, and solid-state storage. All these features and the innovative approach attract a lot of attention among potential buyers. This probably won’t be a killer iPad tablet, but it will represent an important alternative to the iPad in the future.

Another competitor to the iPad is the BlackBerry PlayBook, RIM’s first tablet. The tablet comes packed with features like a dual-core processor, dual cameras, outstanding multitasking capabilities, and Flash support. Full compatibility and the ability to easily pair with BlackBerry phones is another reason to consider the Playbook as an iPad replacement.

Motorola’s first tablet will also be a strong competitor to the iPad. Motorola Xoom runs on Android 3.0, the first Android operating system designed specifically for tablets. This tablet has a dual-core Tegra2 chipset, two web cameras, a 10-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and 10 hours of Full HD video playback. All of these advanced features, and the fact that the Motorola Xoom is the first tablet to run the tablet-optimized Android operating system, makes it one of the strongest iPad alternatives.

All of these and many more tablets are expected to enter the tablet market this year. Tablet-buying customers expect new models to be cheaper, better, and more portable. The comparison of the tablets shows that Apple will have to launch a second generation iPad soon to maintain its market share.
