If you are like many people, you complain at the thought of preparing food. While you know it’s a must do, it doesn’t mean you like it! Meal prep takes time, but if you consider preparing your veggies just once throughout the week, it will be easier for you to eat healthy home-cooked meals each night. Some foods, some vegetables, are easy to prepare ahead of time and store well. There are steps you can take with meal planning to make the task easier, and then you will find that you spend less time preparing food and more time enjoying your food.

Let’s look at some ideas for preparing meals …

1. One recipe, many variations. Perhaps the most time-consuming task in meal prep is trying to figure out what to cook in the first place. You have to look up recipes, figure out what will work with your weight loss diet, and then buy all the necessary foods. Time consuming stuff!

Instead, look for a recipe that offers several variations. For example, you can make a vegetable stir-fry. You can simply modify the veggies you put in the stir fry, swap the chicken for meat as you like, and even change the sauce a bit. It’s the same food in general, but with little changes that should be enough to keep you interested in continuing your weight loss diet plan.

The more you get used to preparing the same types of meals over and over again, the easier it will be to plan your meal prep for the week.

2. Two words: slow cooker. Slow cooking is very easy and is a cooking method that everyone should use from time to time. Just put all the ingredients in the slow cooker in the morning, turn it on, and when you get home from work, the food is ready to serve. Plus, you can make a significant-sized batch, which means you’ll be eating healthy meals multiple times throughout the week.

3. Buy pre-cut vegetables. The last idea to consider is buying pre-cut vegetables. Chopping vegetables is often a job that people dislike the most, so make it easier for yourself. Buy them ready to go, so there is little to no prep work involved.

While you’ll pay a bit more for pre-cut veggies, it’s money well spent.

There are some ideas to think about to help make meal prep easier. By following these tips, sticking to your weight loss diet will be easier than ever.
