Google Chrome crashes they are a problem that has several potential causes, such as this software is unable to process the files it needs to run, has errors with its configuration, or is simply out of date. Fortunately, Chrome is advanced enough to be able to fix many of the common problems that can cause it to crash, but there are a few issues that require your attention to get your browser working as smoothly as possible again. This is what to do:
1) Reinstall Google Chrome
The first step is to reinstall Chrome. Not only will this allow your PC to update all the files / options that might be causing a problem, but it also ensures that you will be able to download a new version of the program to get all the latest additions. To do this, you need to follow the steps outlined here:
- Click “Start”
- Click on “Control Panel”
- Click “Add or Remove Programs”
- Select “Google Chrome”.
- Remove the app
- Restart your PC
- Download a new version of Google Chrome
- Install it and then try to run it
2) Re-install Adobe Flash ActiveX Control
The next step is to reinstall Adobe Flash ActiveX Control. This is basically a file that has been used by Windows to help load Flash within the browsers that you have installed on your system and can be a source of conflict for the Google Chrome application. Fortunately, fixing this problem is actually quite easy to do – you just need to delete the “Add / Remove Programs” applet listing in Windows, like this:
- Click “Start”
- Click on “Control Panel”
- Click “Add or Remove Programs”
- Select “Flash ActiveX”
- Remove the app
- Restart your PC
- Try using Chrome again
3) Clean your PC registry
Finally, you need to clean your system’s registry database. This is where Windows will keep a host of important settings for your system, and this is where the likes of your computer’s desktop background, the most recent emails, and even your passwords are saved. Although this part of your PC is continually causing a large number of errors to form, it is actually making your system run much slower and with a large number of problems.
To repair this problem, you need to be able to clean up the various problems this part of your system could have, which can be done by downloading a registry cleaner, installing it, and then letting it fix any problems on your computer. Our recommended tool is a program called Frontline Registry Cleaner 2.0, as it will fix most of your system problems.
